Section 218E.410 - Creation; membership; Secretary; alternates; officers; terms; vacancies1. There is hereby created the Subcommittee on Education Accountability of the Interim Finance Committee, consisting of the following members: (a) Five members of the Assembly appointed by the Speaker of the Assembly, three of whom must be members of the majority political party and two of whom must be members of the minority political party; and(b) Three members of the Senate appointed by the Majority Leader of the Senate, two of whom must be members of the majority political party and one of whom must be a member of the minority political party.2. The Director shall act as Secretary of the Subcommittee.3. If any regular member of the Subcommittee informs the Secretary that the member will be unable to attend a particular meeting, the Secretary shall notify the Speaker of the Assembly or the Majority Leader of the Senate, as the case may be, to appoint an alternate for the meeting from the same House and political party as the absent member.4. The Chair of the Interim Finance Committee shall appoint a Chair of the Subcommittee from one House and a Vice Chair of the Subcommittee from the other House.5. Except as otherwise provided in subsection 6, the term of a member of the Subcommittee expires upon the convening of the next regular legislative session, unless the member is replaced by the appointing authority.6. The membership of any member of the Subcommittee described in subsection 1 who is not a candidate for reelection or who is defeated for reelection terminates on the day next after the general election.7.
