Mont. Code § 46-18-704

The committing court may, in its discretion, upon request of the county attorney and sheriff of such county, reduce the sentence of the prisoner up to one-fourth of the full term if, in the opinion of the court, the prisoner's conduct, diligence, and general attitude merit such diminution.
