Section 10-1-1502 - Legislative findings - purposeThe legislature finds and declares that:
(1) the ability of the United States military to train and operate effectively in Montana is crucial to the nation's defense;(2) increasing development pressures in and around existing military facilities and training areas represent a potential threat to the continued viability of military missions in Montana;(3) local governments should be empowered to implement land use policies designed to protect existing military missions from encroachment and encourage expansion of military missions in Montana; and(4) it is the purpose of this part to promote public health, safety, and general welfare by the delineation of military affected areas and by granting local governments the ability to develop regulations to ensure that surrounding land uses are compatible with uses in military affected areas.En.
