Section 49-15-87 - "Peeler crab" and "soft-shell crab" defined(a) "Peeler crab" means a blue crab having a new soft shell fully developed under the hard shell and having a definite white, pink or red line or rim on the outer edge of the back fin or flipper.(b) "Soft-shell crab" means a peeler crab which has recently shed its hard shell.
