Section 39-3-5 - County library tax; additional funds for support, upkeep and maintenance(1) Any county which supports a public library or public library system may, by order of the board of supervisors of such county, in their discretion, levy a four (4) mill tax on all taxable property within the county to be used for the support, upkeep and maintenance of any public library or public library system located in said county.(2) The taxes levied under this section shall be excluded from the revenue increase limitation imposed pursuant to Section 27-39-321.(3) In addition to the levy herein authorized, the board of supervisors of any county may, in their discretion, make contributions from any available funds for the support, upkeep and maintenance of any public library or public library system located in such county.Codes, 1942, § 6200-01; Laws, 1946, ch. 203; Laws, 1950, ch. 234, §§ 1, 2; Laws, 1952, ch. 206, §§ 1, 2; Laws, 1958, ch. 229, §§ 1, 2; Laws, 1962, ch. 258; Laws, 1968, ch. 383, § 1; Laws, 1986, ch. 400, § 22; Laws, 1988, ch. 589, § 10, eff. 7/1/1988.
