The board may license any person certified by the National Board for Certification in Occupational Therapy as an occupational therapist if the board determines the requirements for certification are equivalent to or exceed the requirements for licensure as an occupational therapist under section 148.6408. The board may license any person certified by the National Board for Certification in Occupational Therapy as an occupational therapy assistant if the board determines the requirements for certification are equivalent to or exceed the requirements for licensure as an occupational therapy assistant under section 148.6410. Nothing in this section limits the board's authority to deny licensure based upon the grounds for discipline in sections 148.6401 to 148.6449.
