Section 433.13 - Loss of, or damage to, property by animal running at large; demand for compensation(1) A person who sustains any loss of, or damage to, property by an animal running at large may demand reasonable compensation from the owner of the animal as reparation for the loss or damage or as ordered by the court.(2) The demand for compensation shall be in writing and shall include:(a) A statement of when, where, what, and how much damage was done.(b) The identity or description of the animal and, if known, the identity of the owner of the animal.(c) The amount of compensation demanded.(3) The demand for compensation shall be verified by the claimant and submitted to the law enforcement agency which has the animal in its custody or possession.1976, Act 328, Eff. 3/31/1977 .
