Section 400.586j - Retaliation or discrimination as misdemeanor; unlawful conduct; fine(1) A person who retaliates or discriminates against any of the following individuals due to that individual's registration of a complaint or assistance in the investigation of a complaint is guilty of a misdemeanor: (a) An officer, employee, resident, or visitor to a long-term care facility.(b) A family member or guardian of a resident in a long-term care facility.(c) An ombudsman described by this act.(d) A volunteer at a long-term care facility.(2) A person who willfully does any of the following in connection with an ombudsman described by this act is subject to a fine of not more than $1,500.00: (a) Hinders the work of an ombudsman or an ombudsman program.(b) Refuses to comply with a lawful request of an ombudsman.(c) Offers compensation or other promises to improperly influence the outcome of a matter being investigated by an ombudsman.Add. 1987, Act 35, Imd.
