Section 28.785 - Solicitation and selection of design; inscription(1) The commission shall do all of the following: (a) Oversee the financing, design, and construction of a memorial monument dedicated to those individuals described in subsection (2).(b) Solicit designs for the monument and select the final design.(c) Maintain and upkeep the monument, subject to appropriation.(2) All of the following must be inscribed on the Michigan law enforcement officers memorial monument:(a) The name of each law enforcement officer and reserve law enforcement officer from this state who died in the line of duty.(b) The name of each individual from this state who qualifies as an officer who died in the line of duty for purposes of inclusion on the National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial authorized by Public Law 98-534.Amended by 2022, Act 39,s 1, eff. 3/23/2022.Amended by 2020, Act 215,s 1, eff. 10/15/2020.Amended by 2013, Act 242,s 1, eff. 3/14/2014.Added by 2004, Act 177, s 5, eff. 7/1/2004.
