Section 1953 - Splash guards1.Required. A truck, truck tractor, trailer and semitrailer must be equipped with suitable guards that will effectively reduce the spray or splash of mud, water or slush caused by the rear wheels. [1993, c. 683, Pt. A, §2(NEW); 1993, c. 683, Pt. B, §5(AFF).]
2.Exception. Splash guards are not required for: A. A truck with a registered gross vehicle weight of 6,000 pounds or less; [1995, c. 584, Pt. A, §3(AMD).]B. A dump truck: (1) While being operated on construction or reconstruction projects in a construction area established by the Department of Transportation; and(2) On a public way between the project and a pit or quarry where materials are being obtained when the pit or quarry is within 7 miles of the construction area; [1993, c. 683, Pt.
