A volunteer hospice program must comply with this section and with all provisions of subchapter I that are relevant to a volunteer hospice program. [1993, c. 692, §1 (NEW).]
1.Direct services. At a minimum, a direct service volunteer must:A. Submit a written application; [1993, c. 692, §1 (NEW).]B. Undergo a screening interview and a posttraining interview; [1993, c. 692, §1 (NEW).]C. Attend a 20-hour standard training program; [1993, c. 692, §1 (NEW).]D. Submit a confidentiality statement; and [1993, c. 692, §1 (NEW).]E. If the volunteer will transport individuals, have proof of auto insurance and a valid driver's license. 2.Policies and procedures. Hospice programs shall develop and maintain policies and procedures that address the following:A. Recruitment, retention and dismissal; [1993, c. 692, §1 (NEW).]B. Screening; [1993, c. 692, §1 (NEW).]C. Orientation; [1993, c. 692, §1 (NEW).]D. Scope of function; [1993, c. 692, §1 (NEW).]E. Supervision; [1993, c. 692, §1 (NEW).]F. Ongoing training and support; [1993, c. 692, §1 (NEW).]G. Interdisciplinary team conferencing; [1993, c. 692, §1 (NEW).]H. Records of volunteer activities; and [1993, c. 692, §1 (NEW).]I. 3.Duties of coordinator. Volunteer services must be directed by a coordinator of volunteer services who shall:A. Implement a direct service volunteer program; [1993, c. 692, §1 (NEW).]B. Coordinate the orientation, education, support and supervision of direct service volunteers; and [1993, c. 692, §1 (NEW).]C. Coordinate the use of direct service volunteers with other hospice staff. 4.Demonstrated knowledge. Volunteers must demonstrate knowledge of and ability to access community resources that reflect the full scope of hospice care. [1993, c. 692, §1 (NEW).]
