Section 37:1543 - ApplicationA. In order to obtain a certificate of approval as a registered veterinary technician, the applicant shall comply with the following provisions: (1) The applicant shall submit an application to the board at least thirty days prior to the announced date of the examination.(2) The applicant shall submit evidence of the applicant's good moral character.(3) The applicant shall submit evidence that he:(a) Has obtained a high school diploma or its equivalent.(b)(i) Has successfully completed a program in veterinary technology which is accredited by the American Veterinary Medical Association, or(ii) Has successfully completed a board-approved program in veterinary technology at an accredited institution of higher education and has two years actual experience working in a veterinary practice under the direct supervision of a licensed veterinarian.(4) The application shall be sworn to and subscribed before a notary public.(5) The applicant shall have passed any state or national examination for veterinary technology as named and required in rules prescribed by the board.(6) The applicant shall pay the fee established by the board.B. The board may adopt, amend, or repeal all rules necessary to carry into effect the provisions of this Chapter.
