Section 34:3412 - Authority to expropriate and acquire property for river deepening projects prior to judgmentA. When the Department of Transportation and Development or its agent cannot amicably acquire property needed for river deepening projects as provided in this Chapter, it may acquire the same by expropriation and may acquire the property prior to judgment in the trial court on the amount of compensation due to the owner of the property.B. Except as otherwise provided in this Chapter, such expropriation shall be conducted in the manner that the department is permitted to expropriate property for highway purposes, as set forth in R.S. 48:449 through 459.La.
