Section 33:130.72 - Composition of the boardA. The Ward One Economic Development Board of Calcasieu Parish shall be composed of five members who shall be selected as follows: (1) One member shall be appointed by the Louisiana state senator or senators who represent any part of Ward One of Calcasieu Parish.(2) One member shall be appointed by the Louisiana state representative or representatives who represent any part of Ward One of Calcasieu Parish.(3) One member shall be appointed by the Calcasieu Parish School Board member or members who represent any part of Ward One of Calcasieu Parish.(4) Two members shall be appointed by the member or members of the governing authority of Calcasieu Parish who represent any part of Ward One of Calcasieu Parish.B.(1) Members shall serve four-year terms after initial terms as provided in Paragraph (2) of this Subsection.(2) One member shall serve an initial term of one year; one shall serve an initial term of two years; one shall serve an initial term of three years; and two shall serve initial terms of four years. The initial terms of the respective members shall be determined by lot conducted at the first meeting of the board.C. Members shall serve without compensation.D. Any vacancy in the membership of the board, occurring either by reason of the expiration of the term for which appointed or by reason of death, resignation, or otherwise, shall be filled in the manner of the original appointment. In the event that the entity responsible for the appointment of a member fails to fill a vacancy within thirty days, the remaining members of the board shall appoint an interim successor to serve until the position is filled by the appointing entity.E. Any member of the board may be removed by a majority vote of the board, but only for cause and on charges preferred against him in writing and after public hearing, provided that any member so removed shall have the right to appeal his removal to a court of competent jurisdiction within ten days of the decision ordering his removal.Acts 2001, No. 377, §1, eff. 7/1/2001; Acts 2004, No. 383, §1, eff. 6/23/2004.
