A. General prohibitions.
(1) A person shall not become a candidate in a primary or general election for more than one office unless one of the offices is membership on a political party committee, nor shall a person be a candidate at the same time for two or more different offices to be filled at separate elections.
(2) A person shall not become a candidate for more than one office if the general election date for the office sought is to be held on the same date as the other office's primary election date unless one of the offices is membership on a political party committee.
B. Unexpired and succeeding term of office. A person may become a candidate for both the unexpired and the succeeding term of an office.
C. Political party committees. A person may become a candidate in any primary or general election for membership on more than one committee of a political party, but a person may only become a candidate for one position, either at-large or from a political subdivision, on the same committee of a political party.
D. President or vice president of the United States. Notwithstanding the provisions of Subsection A of this Section, a senator or representative in the United States Congress who has been nominated as a candidate for president or vice president of the United States may become a candidate in a primary or general election for either office in addition to the office he holds that is set to be decided at the same election.
