Section 17:3023.4 - Student loan guaranteesA. Notwithstanding any other provisions of law, the board may guarantee loans made to students attending or planning to attend institutions of higher education, including graduate, professional, vocational, business, or technical education, subject to the conditions, limitations, reinsurance provisions and in accordance with the terms and provisions of and within the amounts established by 20 U.S.C. § 1071 et seq., or in accordance with the provisions of any federal law or regulations relating to student loan guarantee or insurance programs, provided that the aggregate value of all loans guaranteed and outstanding at any one time shall not exceed fifteen times the total value of funds, investments, properties, and other assets available to the board for such purpose, except that this guarantee may be further expanded by use of federal credit.B. The guarantee shall be for the maximum percentage of the unpaid principal and interest of each loan permitted by the Federal Higher Education Act of 1965, as amended or as hereafter amended.C. The interest charged on any guaranteed loans shall not exceed the maximum interest rate authorized by the Federal Higher Education Act of 1965, as amended or as hereafter amended.Acts 1978, No. 135, §2; Acts 1978, No. 589, §1; Acts 1979, No. 761, §§1, 2, eff.
