Section 11:3289 - Salary deductions paid into the fund; contributions by the city of LafayetteThe fund shall consist of the following:
(1) The percentage of the salary hereinafter set forth of the employees of the fire department, who have been employed by the fire department and who are participating in the fund, shall be paid into the fund. Until November 1, 1975, there shall be deducted from the respective salaries, including overtime and supplemental pay, of all employees of the fire department, the amount of six percent of salary. Effective November 1, 1975, the amount of ten percent of the said salaries, including overtime and supplemental pay shall be deducted. The deductions shall be paid semimonthly into the fund by the director of administration of the city of Lafayette. Any employee who joins the fire department and after attaining the age of thirty-four years shall not be eligible for participation in the fund.(2) Until November 1, 1975, the city of Lafayette shall budget, appropriate and pay semimonthly to the fund an amount equal to six percent of the respective salaries, including overtime and supplemental pay, of all employees of the fire department. Effective November 1, 1975, the city of Lafayette shall budget, appropriate and pay semimonthly to the fund an amount equal to ten percent of the respective salaries, including overtime and supplemental pay of all employees of the fire department.(3) In the event that benefits are due to firemen or their survivors under the provisions of this Part, and there are not sufficient funds to pay such benefits, the city of Lafayette shall budget, appropriate, and pay to the fund an amount equal to the total sum of benefits actually due the firemen or their survivors hereunder, said sums to be paid to the fund by the city semimonthly.(4) The city of Lafayette shall pay to the fund all money received by it from the state of Louisiana as its part of the tax on fire insurance premiums of foreign insurance companies or from any other insurance contributions, or which is otherwise paid to the city by the state of Louisiana in connection with fire insurance. If the city, for any reason, does not pay such receipts to the fund, then the city of Lafayette shall appropriate and pay to the fund an amount equal to the fund received from the state as aforesaid. In such event, the city shall appropriate and pay to the fund annually an amount equal to the total of the last amount received by the city from the state of Louisiana.La.
