§ 841. Purpose and creation

(a) To establish in the Legislature of Puerto Rico, the Dr. Jaime Benítez Legislative Internships Program, which shall be directed and administered by the Joint Committee of the Legislature created in subsection (b) of this section.

(b) The Joint Committee of the Dr. Jaime Benítez Legislative Internships Program is hereby created to be in charge of all matters pertaining to the implementation and operation of the Program established by this chapter. The Joint Committee shall be composed of the President of the Puerto Rico Senate and the Speaker of the Puerto Rico House of Representatives, the floor leaders of the different political parties in both legislative bodies and the chairpersons of the Legislative Committees of each Body with jurisdiction over federal matters, education and youth affairs. The Committee shall elect a Chairperson by a majority of the vote of its members. The Committee members may designate any other member of the legislative body to which they belong as a substitute whenever necessary for all purposes concerning the work of the Committee.
