§ 7719. Creation

The Puerto Rico Surveyor’s Office (hereinafter, the Office) is hereby created attached to the Permit Management Office (hereinafter, the OGPe) with the powers conferred under this chapter and the regulations approved thereunder, in charge of coordinating, storing, managing, without being construed as a limitation, geographic or geospatial information of the Island and provide and regulate all that pertains to the guidelines and rules for the administration of the CPRGIS, the Map, and the SPCS, in accordance with the standards of the Federal Geographic Data Committee for the National Spatial Data Infrastructure and the Access Platform.

The main duty of the Office shall be to establish data collection and transmission guidelines, formats, and rules, act as recipient of such data, establish adequate mechanisms to access said resources, and provide technical assistance to the OGPe in surveying-related matters; however, in very particular cases that are favorable for the public policy, it may carry out surveying works. The personnel of the Office shall not exceed those provided herein.
