§ 6315. Executive Director—Duties and powers

The Executive Director shall have all powers as convenient and necessary for the development of and for carrying out the public policy provided for in this subchapter. Furthermore, he/she shall have the duty of coordinating, in close collaboration with the Chairperson of the Planning Board and the Secretary, all matters relative to the sustainable development of tourism in Puerto Rico and to the conservation, use and management of natural resources, without impairing the authority and powers conferred onto these officers by virtue of the laws and regulations of the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico.

In seeking to obtain information and advisory, as well as new product opportunities and participation in new projects, the Executive Director or his/her designated representative shall participate in international and regional activities and organizations that promote the sustainable development of tourism and ecotourism, such as: the Ecotourism Society, Green Globe, the World Tourism Organization (UNWTO), the Caribbean Tourism Organization, and the United Nations Environmental Programme (UNEP), among others.
