§ 171. Historic monuments and landmarks—Acquisition

The Secretary of Transportation and Public Works is hereby authorized and directed to acquire in any legal manner, including purchase or sale or condemnation, in the name of the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, any historic monument or landmark of Puerto Rico as well as the use, usufruct, lease, or any other right therein. In case of condemnation, the Secretary of Transportation and Public Works shall have the power to represent the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico in the proceedings, and, the previous declaration of public utility by the Governor provided for in §§ 2901—2913 of Title 32 shall not be required.
