§ 5940. Notice of the result of the sale at public auction

(a) Within thirty (30) days from the date of the public auction, the owner of the certificate of sale shall notify the owner of the property sold and the debtor taxpayer, should it be another person, by certified mail, return receipt requested, the results of the auction, including the name and address of the purchaser, the sale price and the total excess amount, if any.

(b) If within the term of thirty (30) days from the date of the sale at public auction, the owner of the property sold should request payment of the excess, the owner of the certificate of sale shall deliver said excess to the latter, provided the owner of the property sold has ceded possession of the property or has agreed to said cession to the satisfaction of the acquirer. In said case, the right of redemption granted by § 5944 of this title shall be deemed as extinguished as soon as said amount in excess is delivered to the owner of the property sold or to his/her legal successors.
