§ 4631g. Exceptions in case of emergency

The provisions of § 4631e of this title shall not be applicable in the case of an emergency excavation or demolition necessary to respond to a situation which jeopardizes life, health, or property, or a situation in which the need of the citizens merits immediate action. If such is the case, the excavator or wrecker shall begin the emergency excavation or demolition immediately, taking reasonable precautions to protect the underground structures or installations and reduce the risk of accidents to a minimum, and shall notify the Excavation and Demolition Coordination Center as soon as reasonably possible, but in any case, within a period not greater than seventy-two (72) hours, after beginning the excavation. This shall not be applicable in unforeseen cases or force majeure.
