§ 4458. Municipal assets—Assignment of municipal property to the central government

The municipality may assign the property title, usufruct, or use of any asset it owns, free of charge, to the Government of the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico or to the federal government, provided it is for public use. In those cases in which the usufruct or use of the property is granted, a contract shall be executed which stipulates the use which the property is to be given, the term of the assignment, the responsibility of each party with regard to the maintenance, repair and conservation of the property assigned in use, and any other matters that are essential and convenient to the municipality’s interests.
