§ 1055d. Committee—Designation and vacancies

Committee members who are public officials shall keep said designation while they hold the corresponding public office and, in case of vacancies, whoever holds such office in an acting capacity. Members who represent nonprofit organizations, the private sector, and private universities shall be designated by the Secretary of the Department of Natural and Environmental Resources. The Secretary of the Department of Natural and Environmental Resources shall make such six (6) designations on or before February 1 of the year preceding the year of the designation. These designations shall be for a term of two (2) years from the date of appointment or until February 1 of the year prior to the following year of designation, whichever comes first. Representatives of nonprofit organizations, the private sector, and private universities must play active roles in their respective institutions or companies in order to be members of the Committee. Otherwise, it shall be understood that the position is vacant. The Secretary of the Department of Natural and Environmental Resources shall have fifteen (15) days to appoint a substitute when a vacancy arises in one of the Committee positions corresponding to any of the members representing nonprofit organizations, the private sector, and private universities.
