§ 785. Usufructuaries of municipal lots—Payment of rent in lieu of property tax

It is hereby provided that every usufructuary of municipal lots shall pay to the municipality where said lot is located for the grant of the usufruct enjoyed by him, in lieu of the property tax accruing on said lot, an annual rent equivalent to not more than the amount of said tax, which rent the municipality is hereby authorized to levy; Provided, That for the purposes of §§ 785 and 786 of this title, the term “usufructuary” shall include every owner of municipal lots. Provided, further, That nothing contained in this section shall limit or prevent the municipality from selling said municipal lots in usufruct, according to the Municipal Law in force.
