The Registry shall have a duration of thirty (30) years. At the end of said term the individualized information on the identity of the infants in the Registry shall be destroyed and only the statistical data shall be preserved. The Registry shall become a public record.
Within the period of thirty (30) years mentioned above, a periodic destruction of the individualized information in the Registry shall be performed. Each time that any of the infants registered in the Registry reaches the age of twelve (12) years, the information concerning such infant shall be destroyed with only his statistical general data being preserved, without mention of the minor’s identity.
The two procedures described above shall be the responsibility of the Department. The penalties established in this chapter are applicable to physical and to juridical persons who undertake the mentioned destruction.
