§ 286b. Penalties

Any person who violates any of the provisions of this chapter, or who engages in the profession of private detective, or operates an “agency” without a license issued in accordance with this chapter; or who falsely represents him/herself as a private detective or an employee of an “agency”, or who discloses information in violation of the provision of § 285q of this title, and any person who hires the services of a private detective or “agency”, knowing that such detective or “agency” does not hold a license issued in accordance with this chapter, shall be guilty of a misdemeanor and upon conviction be punished by a fine of not less than one thousand dollars ($1,000), or by imprisonment for not more than six (6) months, or both penalties, fine and imprisonment, at the discretion of the court.
