§ 2703. Organization

The Board shall be duly composed of nine (9) expert electricians duly authorized by law to practice the profession, who must be members of the College of Expert Electricians of Puerto Rico. The Governor of Puerto Rico shall appoint said members with the advice and consent of the Senate. The term of the Board members shall be of four (4) years or until his/her successor is appointed and takes office. The Board members must meet the following requirements:

(1) Be of legal age.

(2) Be a citizen of the United States of America.

(3) To have practiced the profession of expert electrician for at least five (5) years prior to his appointment and possess a license as such.

(4) No member of the Board of Directors of the College of Expert Electricians of Puerto Rico, its employees, inspectors or members of its Standing or Special Committees shall be members of the Board. Neither can those persons who own private electrician’s schools or who are shareholders or belong to the Board of Directors or the Board of Trustees of a college or private school where studies leading to the obtaining of an expert electrician or expert electrician assistant’s license, be members of the Board. This provision shall be prospective in nature.

Expert electricians who are holding office as members of the present Board of Examiners of Expert Electricians on the date of approval of this act and who do not meet the requirement provided in the preceding subsection (4) shall have to resign their position on the Board of Examiners of Expert Electricians of Puerto Rico.
