§ 2601. Definitions

For the purposes of this chapter, the following terms shall have the meanings indicated below, unless from the context it clearly appears otherwise:

(a) Lineal drawing. — Is a drawing made by hand, with drawing instruments or by computer, in any branch of engineering, architecture or surveying, in which the shape, dimensions, kind of material, different finishings and other details of a figure and its parts are represented.

(b) Construction drawings. — Are scaled drawings of multiple views and subsets with the necessary details for the construction of projects, parts and sections made with drawing instruments or computer designing software; scaled blueprints with detailed outlines for the construction of buildings, monuments and other similar structures, according to verbal or written instructions, by means of sketches, notes, engineer or architect specifications, ink or pencil tracings, engineering and architectural work plans, and sketches of preliminary designs on ideas submitted by engineers or architects.

(c) Draftsman. — Means any person authorized to practice linear or construction drawing as a profession who complies with the requirements of this chapter and with all regulations approved pursuant to the same for the practice of the profession, and who holds a license issued by the Board of Examiners of Draftsmen which authorizes him/her to practice as such and to be registered as an active College member.

It shall not be understood that the practice of the profession of draftsmanship limits in any way the professional practice of architects, landscape architects, engineers or surveyors, with license or in training, and/or any other authorized professional who, in the discharge of his/her duties, prepares blueprints, drawings, sketches and other visual representations of their work, designs or projects.

(d) Board. — Means the Board of Examiners of Draftsmen created by this chapter.

(e) College. — Means the College of Draftsmen of Puerto Rico, the creation of which is authorized by this chapter.

(f) License. — Means a document issued by the Board which authorizes the practice as professional draftsman in Puerto Rico.

(g) Certification. — Means any document issued by the College of Draftsmen of Puerto Rico to certify that the person in whose name it is issued has filed an application for membership with the College after submitting a certificate of having passed the examination required by the Board.
