§ 2501. Definitions

For the purposes of this chapter, the following terms shall have the meaning indicated below:

(a) Board. — Means the Puerto Rico Board of Examiners of Naturopaths.

(b) License. — Means every document duly issued by the Board in which it is certified that the person [o]n behalf of whom it has been issued is authorized to practice naturopathy in Puerto Rico, pursuant to the requirements established in this chapter.

(c) Naturopath. — Means the person who meets the requirements established in this chapter, engaged in the prevention of diseases and to the restoration and maintenance of the human body.

(d) Naturopathy. — Means the natural probiotic practice, independent from conventional medicine, that sees the body as a whole and promotes an integral nutrition and lifestyle as the main factors in the prevention of diseases, where healing may be achieve by triggering the natural recovery and regenerative resources of the body without the use of pharmaceutical products or other controlled substances used in medicine and without invasive or surgical procedures, where only substances of a natural origin are used. Naturopathy is a practice to complement health and is not a substitute for conventional medicine.
