The Automotive Technicians and Mechanics Examining Board of Puerto Rico shall issue a license without an examination to every person who, upon the effective date of this act, has engaged in the trade of automotive technician in Puerto Rico for a period of not less than ten (10) years and meets the provisions of subsections (a), (b), and (e) of § 2135 of this title.
The Board shall likewise issue a license as automotive mechanic without requiring an examination from every person who has engaged in the trade of automotive mechanic for a period of not less than five (5) years, and meets the other requirements established in § 2135a of this title, is working and can satisfactorily attest, through sworn statements certified by two duly-licensed and collegiated automotive technicians, which state that he/she has worked as an automotive mechanic for a term of five (5) years prior to the date said application is presented. Said persons shall file an application for a license without examination in the unpostponeable term of one (1) year, from the effective date of this act.
