A Board of Examiners of Social Work Professionals, hereinafter, the Board of Examiners, is hereby created. Such Board of Examiners shall be composed of seven (7) members, to be appointed by the Governor of Puerto Rico with the advice and consent of the Senate for a period of four (4) years and until their successors are appointed and take office. The Board of Examiners shall have the power to adopt the rules and regulations necessary to carry out the functions entrusted to it by this chapter.
Each member of the Board of Examiners, including public employees and officials, shall be entitled to a per diem of fifty dollars ($50) for each day or portion thereof in which they render services to such Board, in addition to a mileage allowance from their domicile to the headquarters of the Board of Examiners and back, as prescribed by the regulations of the Department of the Treasury to such effect. As of January 1, 1999, the members of the Board of Examiners shall receive per diems equal to the minimum per diems established for members of the Legislative Assembly, up to a maximum of three thousand dollars ($3,000) per year, except for the Chair of the Board of Examiners, who shall receive per diems equal to one hundred and thirty-three percent (133%) of the per diems received by all other members of the Board of Examiners.
