P.R. Laws tit. 20, § 409f
(1) The Board may certify as a specialist in an area of the pharmacy profession any authorized pharmacist who holds a specialty certificate granted by a recognized professional institution or agency. This shall also apply to other professional credentials, such as the immunization administration certificate.
(2) The Board shall establish through regulations the criteria and procedures for granting a specialty certificate. No pharmacist may advertise or purport to be a specialist in an area of the pharmacy profession in Puerto Rico if he/she does not hold a specialty certificate issued by the Board.
(3) Any pharmacist who wishes to administer vaccines in Puerto Rico shall apply before the Board of Pharmacy for the immunization administration certificate. The application shall include:
(a) Name and surnames, pharmacist license number, and health professional registration number in effect, and a certification that he/she is a member in good standing of the College of Pharmacists of Puerto Rico.
(b) Proof that he/she has completed at least twenty (20) credit hours in an institution recognized by the Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE).
(c) Proof that he/she holds a Basic Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) Certificate in effect, issued by the American Heart Association or the American Red Cross.
(d) Payment of the corresponding fees for the immunization administration certificate application, as provided in § 409n of this title.
(4) The immunization administration certificate issued by the Board of Pharmacy shall be valid for three (3) years as of its date of [issuance]. It may be renewed by the Board upon the filing by the pharmacist of a written application therefor, at least sixty (60) days before its expiration date, including the following:
(a) Name and surnames, pharmacist license number, health professional registration number, and a certification that he/she is a member in good standing of the College of Pharmacists of Puerto Rico.
(b) Proof of having completed at least 1 contact hour (0.1 CEU) of continuing education related to immunizations during each one of the preceding three (3) years.
(c) Proof that he/she holds a Basic Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) Certificate in effect, issued by the American Heart Association or the American Red Cross.
(d) Payment of the corresponding fees for the immunization administration certificate renewal, as provided in § 409n of this title.
