For the purposes of this chapter, the following terms shall have the meaning set forth hereinafter:
(a) Board. — Means the Puerto Rico Board of Examiners of Geologists provided and created hereby.
(b) Register. — Means the Official Registry of the Board, as established in this chapter.
(c) Geology. — Means the science that studies the Earth in general; the study of the Earth, its processes; the investigation of the Earth’s core, rocks, minerals and all other component materials; and the applied science through which the knowledge of the processes, rocks, minerals, liquids, gases and other constituting materials serve for the benefit and practical use of mankind.
(d) Geologist trainee. — Means any person with a diploma or certificate accrediting the satisfactory completion of the requirements for this discipline at an accredited university whose curriculum is duly recognized by the Board, who has complied with the registration requirements in the Official Registry of the Board, and who has been issued the corresponding certificate.
(e) Licensed geologist. — Means any geologist trainee who has complied with the requirements of this chapter for the exercise of said profession, and who holds a license issued by the Board, authorizing him/her to practice as such, and who is registered as a geologist trainee n the Board’s Registry.
(f) Certificate. — Means every accrediting document issued by the Board stating that the person in whose behalf the document has been issued is a professional in geology who has complied with the established requirements, and who appears registered as geologist trainee in the Official Registry of the Board.
(g) License. — Means every document duly issued by the Board in which it is certified that the person in behalf of whom the same has been issued is a licensed professional who has met the requirements established in this chapter, and who is registered as a licensed geologist in the Official Registry of the Board.
