§ 3255. Exemptions to compliance [with] this chapter

(a) No clause of this chapter shall apply to the activities and services rendered by persons qualified for other professions, such as for example, physicians, social workers, rehabilitation counselors or psychologists who practice counseling pursuant to the laws of Puerto Rico.

(b) No clause of this chapter shall apply to the activities or services rendered by students of counseling in accredited institutions in Puerto Rico, if said activities are performed under the supervision of a professor of counseling and they are part of the learning experiences included to complete the requirements to obtain their college degree.

(c) No clause of this chapter shall apply to the activities and services offered by rabbis, priests, ministers, pastors, or laymen of any denomination or religious sect, provided that these activities and services are offered as part of their regular or specialized ministerial duties and tasks in the pastoral counseling field.

(d) No clause of this chapter shall apply to the activities and services of persons who serve as volunteers in public or private nonprofit organizations or charitable institutions, provided these persons are authorized by the organizations or agencies that offer these services and receive no compensation for them.
