The members of the Board shall be citizens of the United States and have resided in the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico for at least three (3) years immediately prior to their appointment. They shall hold a license to practice the profession in Puerto Rico, and have been actively practicing the profession during the three (3) years prior to their appointment. Two (2) of the members shall be speech-language pathologists, two (2) shall be audiologists, and one (1) shall be a speech-language therapist. The members of the Board must hold at least [a] bachelor’s degree, in the case of the speech, language therapist, and a master’s degree, in the case of a speech-language pathologist or audiologist.
The Chairperson shall be selected from among the members of the Board, and he/she shall act as such during the term of his/her appointment. No member of the Board may be a shareholder or belong to a Board of Trustees or Directors of any university, college, or school where studies conducing to obtain a degree in speech-language pathology, audiology, nor speech-language therapist are offered.
