§ 50. Lease of Mona Island to United States

The Secretary of Transportation and Public Works is hereby authorized and empowered to execute, in the name and on behalf of the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, upon the approval of the Planning Board and of the Governor of Puerto Rico, a lease contract with the United States of America with regard to the Island of Mona, or Mona Island, which has an area of 13,798.22 cuerdas, or approximately 5,423.245608 hectares, and is owned by the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, for the nominal fee of one dollar ($1) and for a maximum term of fifteen (15) years, renewable for an additional maximum term of fifteen (15) years, at the option or the instance of the United States of America.
