§ 5015. Preservation of the Joyuda Lagoon—Designation

The Planning Board is hereby directed to designate as a natural reserve the Joyuda Lagoon and its ecosystems in the surrounding area of the municipality of Cabo Rojo, Puerto Rico. The lands surrounding the Lagoon which, according to appropriate studies, are determined to be a part of the ecologic system and habitats that are essential and necessary for the conservation and preservation of the Lagoon, the natural resources, natural beauty, and the environment of said reserve shall be included as a part of said reserve, be it the maritime zone, maritime-terrestrial zone, mangroves, wetlands, and adjacent areas that form the hydrographic basin that supplies water to it.
