§ 215d. Selection of species

The selection of the species of trees mentioned in § 215c of this title and the areas to be reforested shall be conducted under the technical recommendations of the Reforestation Division of the Department of Natural and Environmental Resources. In addition, the following factors shall be taken into consideration:

(a) The type of flowers and fruit produced by the species.

(b) The possibility of accident risks and security problems they may entail, including the attraction their fruit may have for the people and children.

(c) The potential decomposition of their fruit and the consequent potential of propagating insect plagues and disease.

(d) The potential for creating cleanliness problems and objectionable odors.

(e) The danger of alkaloid species for the people.

(f) Pedestrian or vehicle traffic.

(g) The potential for damages to public and private property, taking into consideration the trunk of the tree and the size of its roots.

(h) Their adaptability to the climate and the soil at the site where they are to be planted.
