§ 56. Certify oaths, affirmations, etc.; fees

The Secretary of State and Assistant Secretary of State are hereby authorized and empowered to receive and certify to all oaths, affirmations or acknowledgments necessary, or convenient, or required by law. Said officers shall charge a fee of twenty-five cents for each oath, affirmation or acknowledgment which they receive and certify. Such fee shall be payable by the affixture to the document, instrument, affidavit, etc., of an internal revenue stamp of the proper denomination, same to be canceled in the manner provided by § 31 of the Internal Revenue law. When it shall be necessary or convenient to annex to such oath, affirmation or affidavit, a certificate under the seal of Puerto Rico showing the power of the Secretary or Assistant Secretary to administer or receive the same, an additional fee of one dollar ($1) shall be paid in the same manner for affixing such seal.
