§ 757j. Medications bonus—Grant

(a) Any person who is receiving a pension under §§ 233—246 of Title 4, shall be entitled to receive each year a Medications Bonus equal to one hundred dollars ($100), starting in 2003, which shall be paid not later than July 15 of each year.

(b) The Medications Bonus set forth herein shall be tax exempt.

(c) Any person who is receiving a pension or benefit under the provisions of §§ 786-1 through 786-12 of this title, known as the “Retirement Savings Account Program”, shall be expressly excluded from the provisions of this section. Likewise, the participants of the Judiciary Retirement System of the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico shall be excluded from the Medications Bonus benefit granted under this section.

(d) The resources to defray the cost of the Medications Bonus, with respect to the pensioners of the Central Government and pensioner judges, shall be appropriated in the General Budget of Expenses of the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico. The public corporations and municipalities whose employees are covered by this section shall provide the funds to defray the Medications Bonus set forth by this section the pensioners of their corporation or municipality.
