§ 293m. Internal organization

The Secretary is hereby empowered to establish the internal organization and structure of the Department to better discharge the functions imposed on him/her by law, subject to the norms and guidelines that apply on the organization of the Executive Branch. In addition to those established in §§ 291—295u of this title, the following components are hereby incorporated and made an operational part of the administrative structure of the Department:

(a) The Special Investigations Bureau created by §§ 138a—138r of this title, and the programs that have been attached to it at the time of effectiveness of this act and those that may be assigned in the future.

(b) The Seizures Board created by Act No. 93 of July 13, 1988.

(c) The Crime Victims Compensation Office created by §§ 981—981n of Title 25.

(d) The Criminal Justice Information System created by §§ 531—531r of Title 4.

(e) The Property Registry created by §§ 2001 et seq. of Title 30.

The Secretary shall make available to the components mentioned above and to any other attached to the Department hereafter, the administrative services needed to implement their respective enabling acts when it does not affect the operation of the Department.
