§ 206. Distribution of fresh milk to participants of the WIC Program

(a) Title.— This section shall be known as an “Act to establish the Public Policy of the Government of Puerto Rico on the Distribution of Fresh and UHT Milk as Main Food Products for WIC Program Participants”.

(b) Public policy.— The distribution of fresh milk and UHT milk as primary products to WIC Program participants shall be the public policy of the Government of Puerto Rico. To achieve this, the Department of Health shall make all necessary efforts to ensure that all Program participants, except for children under one year of age, receive or be offered fresh milk as first option, over ultra high temperature processing milk (UHT) and powdered milk at every WIC Center in the Island.

(c) Regulations.— The Department of Health shall draft the general and basic guidelines that shall serve as the framework for the implementation of the provisions of this section; likewise, it shall amend all those regulations germane to the distribution of milk to WIC Program participants in order to adjust it to the provisions of this section.
