§ 2373. Gifts considered part of legal portion

Gifts made to children which are not advantages or extra portions shall be considered as part of their legal portion.

Gifts made to strangers shall be charged to the free part of which the testator may have been able to dispose by his last will.

Insofar as they be illegal or exceed the portion which can be disposed of, they shall be reduced according to the rules of the following sections.
