§ 1442. By whom acquired

Possession may be acquired by the same person who is to benefit thereby, by his legal representative, by his agent, and by a third person without any power whatsoever; but in the last case, possession shall not be considered as acquired until the person in whose name the act of possession has been executed has ratified the same.
