§ 2054. Application; convincing proof of warranty offer; periodic review

This chapter shall apply equally to every manufacturer and maker whose motor vehicles are sold in Puerto Rico, but those who can convincingly prove to the Department of Consumer Affairs that they are offering equal or more favorable guarantees to Puerto Rican consumers than those they offer to the other consumers of their products, and that they are in a position to put said guarantee into effect, shall be exempted from the remaining provisions. The makers or manufacturers of reference shall present proof of the above to the Department within thirty (30) days following the effective date of this act. The Department of Consumer Affairs shall emit its decision and issue a certificate attesting that the manufacturer is entitled to this exemption, in the appropriate cases, within thirty (30) days after the date such proof is received. The Department of Consumer Affairs shall periodically ascertain whether the manufacturers who have obtained said certificate continue to be entitled to the exemption provided above.
