§ 1083. Official inquiry as to bookkeeping of merchants

No official inquiry shall be instituted by any judge, court, or authority to ascertain whether or not merchants keep their books according to the provisions of this Code, nor shall any general investigation or examination of accounts be made at the offices or business places of merchants, except when such investigation or examination is expressly authorized by law.
