There shall be appointed by the Public Service Commission one (1) chief inspector of gas, electric and water meters, and two (2) assistant inspectors, who shall have charge of and be responsible for the technical part of the service, under the direction of the Chief of the Bureau of Weights and Measures. No person shall be eligible to this position unless he holds a diploma of electrician from a recognized school of electricity, or otherwise establishes the necessary competency of his technical knowledge. The Public Service Commission shall also appoint a clerk-stenographer who shall have charge of the office work of this service.
