§ 2035a. Responsibility of the credit reporting agency to provide notice that certain credit information is being disputed and that an investigation has been initiated

(a) If any information furnished to a credit reporting agency by a furnisher of information is challenged or disputed by a consumer because it is incomplete or inaccurate, said furnisher of information may not relay the information to any credit reporting agency without including a notice explaining that such information is being challenged or disputed by the consumer.

(b) If, in accordance with the provisions of § 2034 of this title, a credit reporting agency is notified by an information furnisher that certain information has been challenged or disputed by a consumer, the credit reporting agency shall include in any subsequent report containing the challenged or disputed information a note about said dispute or challenge.
